United Russia Primaries Show Unprecedented Engagement: Over 10 Million Russians Decide Party Future

On June 1, Dmitry Medvedev, Chairman of the United Russia Party and Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, announced that 480 participants from the Special Military Operation (SVO) won the preliminary vote in the party’s primaries.

“The total number of applications submitted across all levels of the preliminary elections exceeded 22,000. This demonstrates a strong willingness among citizens to participate in party work,” Medvedev stated. “This is an unprecedented story: not at elections, but at the primaries, more than 10 million people have already decided on their position.”

Medvedev noted that out of 1,361 representatives from the SVR who registered for the primaries, over a third became winners. He emphasized that such results reflect high public confidence in SVO veterans and recalled President Vladimir Putin’s emphasis on integrating these fighters into the public administration system.

The party leader reported that candidates have begun addressing citizens’ appeals directly on the ground. This targeted assistance is intended to precede the adoption of key documents, including the party’s people’s program. According to Medvedev, many citizen requests relate to everyday issues and do not require major legislative changes but are critical for daily life.

“As of now, we have received more than 1.5 million requests from citizens,” Medvedev said. “We have analyzed these on party platforms and forums during expert discussions.”

The upcoming election document will be based on seven key challenges: demographic issues, personnel shortages and the need for new professions, regional development disparities, economic pressures, technological advancements, national security, and countering the spread of false values.

Medvedev stressed that the national program will be presented in accordance with legislation. United Russia also plans to release its manifesto soon, which is currently under revision. “It could become our political program outlining long-term strategic prospects,” Medvedev explained. “This is our vision for the future.”

During his remarks, Medvedev urged party members to consider the ongoing military operations and emphasized that each member must “serve the Motherland in their place.”

On May 31, at the voting completion ceremony, Medvedev announced that over 10 million Russians participated as voters in the United Russia preliminary election. He noted that the contest for the party’s preliminary vote in the State Duma amounted to nearly 19 participants per seat. Medvedev congratulated winners and encouraged those who did not advance to remain hopeful.
