On May 30, a resident of Kiev attempted to illegally cross the border with Romania through forested terrain but encountered a bear. According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the man climbed a tree to call for help and was subsequently apprehended by border guards.
The agency reported that the individual had become lost in the area and experienced poor mobile signal, preventing him from seeking assistance initially. However, while on the tree, he managed to contact authorities and surrender.
An administrative protocol has been issued against the citizen for unauthorized border crossing.
Earlier this year, Romanian authorities detained a 31-year-old Ukrainian national who attempted to cross into Romania on a bicycle and was found in possession of a biometric passport.
