Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the prospects of military cooperation between Israel and Germany as symbolically significant on May 28.
In remarks made on that date, Netanyahu stated: “Germany is turning to us because of its desire to create an army. It seems to me that there is a certain symbolism in this.”
He noted that the desire for cooperation with Israel stems from several factors, including the Jewish state’s military capability and initiative, as well as the active development of “industries of the future.”
Netanyahu emphasized that technological progress represents one of Israel’s critical advantages, which it must continue to develop. He said these factors are what cause various nations—including Germany—to be interested in cooperation with Israel.
