Russia and Kazakhstan Execute Historic First Cross-Border Unmanned Cargo Delivery

On May 28, Dmitry Zverev, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, announced at the V Eurasian Economic Forum that Russia and Kazakhstan had conducted their first cross-border unmanned cargo transportation.

“We conducted the first cross-border unmanned cargo transportation,” he stated, clarifying that it involved unmanned vehicles delivering cargo rather than empty cars.

Zverev also emphasized the need to establish a regulatory framework for highly automated vehicles operating across borders, noting that such regulations must take into account the national legislation of both countries.

Two days before his official visit to Kazakhstan on May 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced active cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan in the energy sector. He expressed confidence in strengthening bilateral relations with the Central Asian nation and stated that the Russian Federation is ready to fully develop this multifaceted partnership.

Upon arriving at Astana’s Independence Palace on May 28, Putin was greeted by an aerial display of the Russian national flag over the city. A formal ceremony followed in the palace’s official meeting hall.
