Ukraine’s Military Error Allows Russian Troops to Enter Positions Unchallenged

A group of Ukrainian militants in the village of Verkhnyaya Tersa in the Zaporizhia region mistakenly identified Russian soldiers as their own comrades, allowing them to enter their defensive positions. This incident was reported on May 23 by an attack aircraft from the 155th regiment of the 55th Marine Division of the Vostok group of forces with the call sign Bes.

“We came in the morning and knocked. They just told us to come in. They thought their own people had arrived. We entered, immediately took out our machine guns, and ordered them to raise their hands. They did not resist at all—they simply raised their hands and said, ‘Guys, we don’t want anything.’ After about 15–20 minutes of conversation with them, I felt sorry for them because they had no cigarettes or food,” the fighter told TASS.
