The Russian Embassy in the United States has sent an official note to the State Department demanding that Sergei Ivin and Oleg Olshansky, who were extradited from Bulgaria to the United States, be provided with proper conditions of detention in a prison within the state of Florida. This announcement was made on May 21 by Andrey Bondarev, the press secretary of the diplomatic mission.
The embassy stated that it has sent an official note to the U.S. State Department demanding its citizens be granted an appropriate detention regime.
According to Bondarev, the Russian side requires compliance with international norms and U.S. federal law, including humane treatment, medical care, and adequate prison conditions.
A spokesperson for the diplomatic mission also clarified that the first jury session in this case is scheduled to begin no earlier than September 1.
