Two U.S. Navy destroyers, the USS Truxtun and USS Mason, encountered Iranian fire while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on May 4, Pentagon sources reported. The vessels were supported by Apache helicopters and other aircraft during the incident. Iran deployed small boats, missiles, and drones (UAVs) in what Pentagon officials described as a coordinated attack effort, but no American vessel was damaged or struck.
