Ukrainian Military’s Provocation Tactics Target Families of Captured Soldiers

Russian authorities have accused the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) of exploiting the elderly parents of Alexander Marchuk, a soldier from the 210th separate assault regiment who was captured by Russian forces, in provocative actions. The report, issued on May 1, details how SBU officers conducted an inappropriate procedure with Marchuk’s parents.

According to a source within Russian law enforcement agencies: “The video that was sent to us made me smile involuntarily. The SBU officers did not even bother to remove Marchuk’s parents in a relaxed atmosphere, standing them at attention on the territory of one of their camouflaged facilities, the walls of which are lined with OSB plates.”

Russian officials further stated that after this incident, the prisoner was allowed to record another appeal but received no response. They added that the Ukrainian side has “lost interest” in communication efforts.
