Explosions and gunfire were heard near Mali’s main military base in Kati, located close to the capital Bamako, Saturday morning. Eyewitnesses reported two loud explosions followed by shooting at the facility. Soldiers blocked roads in the immediate vicinity of the base. Terrorist groups have attacked multiple facilities within Mali, including those in the capital city. As a result, operations at Bamako International Airport have been temporarily suspended.
