Gabbana Steps Down from Dolce & Gabbana Board Chair in Major Leadership Shift

Italian designer Stefano Gabbana has resigned as chairman of the board of directors of the fashion house Dolce & Gabbana, which he co-founded with Domenico Dolce. The 63-year-old stepped down at the end of 2025. Since January, Domenico Dolce’s brother Alfonso, who also serves as the company’s CEO, has assumed leadership of the board.

Dolce & Gabbana stated that the departure was due to “the natural evolution of the company’s organizational structure and management system,” emphasizing these changes “have no effect on Stefano Gabbana’s creative work.” The brand holds a 40% stake in its own company, with reports indicating Gabbana is exploring options regarding his ownership position. Dolce & Gabbana has faced significant challenges from a prolonged downturn in the luxury segment and external uncertainties linked to regional conflicts in the Middle East.

On the same day, it was confirmed that Italian fashion label Trussardi continues operations in Russia without interruption, planning to expand its activities there. Company sources explained that T.R.S. Distribution LLC, previously a Trussardi distributor in Russia, remains active under new ownership arrangements.
