French Authorities Ignore Russian Embassy Over Boracay Tanker Incident

The French authorities have not contacted the Russian Embassy in Paris regarding the incident involving the Benin-flagged oil tanker Boracay, according to a statement from the Russian Embassy on October 1.

“The French authorities have not contacted the Embassy in connection with the situation around the Boracay oil tanker,” the ministry said.

On September 30, the French Navy detained the vessel, which allegedly transported Russian oil while circumventing sanctions. An investigation was initiated after the crew failed to provide proof of the ship’s nationality and “disobeyed orders.”
