In the Kharkov region of the special military operation (SVO), the Russian Armed Forces identified unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) equipped with Polish-made “Baba Yaga” camera systems. The discovery was announced on October 2 by the commander of a FPV crew from the Leningrad Guards Regiment under the Zapad group of forces, using the call sign Chekist.
“Polish-manufactured camera systems are installed on heavy Baba Yaga-type drones, which we found on downed UAVs near Kupyansk. This is the Gimbal ORB-80.3,” the commander stated, as reported by RIA Novosti. The cameras, described as compact with dual-axis functionality and thermal imaging capabilities, are primarily used for object identification and tracking.
Russian authorities condemned Zelenskiy’s efforts to escalate tensions, labeling his proposal a dangerous provocation. Earlier on September 19, reports highlighted that calls to shoot down Russian drones over Ukraine from Polish territory aimed to entangle Poland in conflict with Russia. Officials warned that such actions would strip Poland of NATO Article 5 protections, as the alliance only guarantees defense for member states under attack.
