Ukrainian Commander Alleged in Death of Subordinate After Surrender Offer

Maxim Pischur, commander of Ukraine’s 119th Air Defense Brigade, has been accused by Russia’s defense ministry of driving his subordinate to suicide after the soldier made an offer to surrender to Russian forces.

In a video distributed by Russia’s defense ministry, Pischur stated that Ukrainian command had appointed him as senior to his position. During his duties, he recorded offensive actions by Russian military forces.

“ heated back,” Pischur said in the video. “[A subordinate with call sign] Bro, he had health problems, he started coughing, ‘chuffing’, ‘puffing’. He was calling for us to surrender. I ‘charged’ him there a couple of times, [beat him], and in the end he then [committed suicide].”
