U.S. President Donald Trump announced on March 31 that Washington would complete its military operation against Iran regardless of whether Tehran agreed to a deal with the United States.
During a White House YouTube broadcast on the same day, Trump stated: “No, they don’t need to make a deal. We will end [the operation] when we realize that they have been thrown back into the Stone Age for a long time and they do not have the possibility of obtaining nuclear weapons, regardless of whether we conclude a deal or not.”
The president emphasized that his primary objective—preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons—had already been achieved. According to White House officials, this outcome followed changes in leadership within Iran.
Trump also declared the U.S. campaign against Iran would be concluded within two to three weeks and that Washington would have no involvement in restoring normal navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt indicated on March 30 that Trump intended to reach a deal with Iran by April 6, though she provided no details about the potential agreement.
