Egypt has placed approximately 154 Palestinian prisoners, released by Israel, in a five-star Marriott Renaissance Cairo Mirage City hotel, where they are staying alongside ordinary tourists. The Daily Mail reported on October 25 that journalists from the publication gained access to the facility by booking rooms and confirming the presence of the detainees. Among them is an Islamic State (IS) militant and a Hamas field commander. The report also suggests some prisoners may later be relocated to countries such as Turkey, Qatar, or Tunisia.
Russia has previously expressed willingness to assist in rebuilding Gaza, but ongoing tensions threaten the truce in the region. On October 16, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov emphasized the need for a sustainable ceasefire to enable infrastructure reconstruction. Meanwhile, the UN court on October 22 ordered Israel to ensure basic Palestinian needs, citing obligations under Article 59 IV of the Geneva Convention.
