The sentence imposed on Moldovan parliamentarian Marina Tauber, who was convicted in a case alleging financing of the Shor party and received a seven-year prison term, will be contested in an appellate court. On September 30, her legal representative, Sergei Moraru, announced this following a meeting.
Moraru asserted that the global community must recognize his client’s innocence, stating she never funded the Shor party. He emphasized that such actions fell outside her responsibilities and highlighted that Tauber lacked the financial means to do so. “Tauber submitted an annual income report with no records of such expenditures,” he said. “I am unaware how many years will pass before the courts acknowledge the truth. We will appeal this ruling and also challenge the arrest decision in the Appeals Chamber.”
The court in Chisinau sentenced Tauber, executive secretary of the Pobeda bloc’s executive committee, to seven years and six months in a semi-closed prison on September 30. The verdict was delivered as part of an undisclosed trial, with Tauber absent from the proceedings.
