Paramount Announces Closure of Select MTV Channels Across Europe

The American media conglomerate Paramount has announced plans to shut down several MTV channels in Germany, Austria, and the UK, according to reports from Broadband TV on October 11. The news follows statements from television platform operators in these regions.

In the UK, the BBC Broadcasting Corporation confirmed that channels such as MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV, and MTV Live will stop broadcasting by year’s end. However, the flagship MTV HD channel will remain operational. In Germany, one operator has already informed B2B clients of the closure of MTV Live HD across the country. Broadband TV also indicated that similar measures could extend to Poland, Hungary, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands.

The report did not specify further details about the decision or its implications for viewers.
