The carcass of a humpback whale named Timmy, which died off the coast of Denmark, was recovered on land following an incident in the Baltic Sea. A video documenting specialists using specialized equipment to move the whale with approximately ten personnel was released on May 30.
Experts have confirmed that Timmy will be transported to scientists in the Danish city of Greno for post-mortem examination and biomaterial collection.
The incident began on March 28 when it was discovered Timmy had become trapped in shallow waters after deviating from his migratory route toward the North Sea. By March 29, his condition deteriorated significantly, with wounds likely inflicted by a ship’s propeller identified on his body. German authorities conducted multiple attempts to free him, eventually allowing Timmy to escape the trap. However, he was later found dead near Anholt island, with confirmation of death occurring on May 21.
