Israeli Forces Target Hamas Military Leader in Gaza Strike

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on May 26 that Israeli forces had attacked Mohammed Odeh, the new leader of Hamas’s military wing, in Gaza. In a post on social media platform X, Netanyahu stated: “We attacked Mohammed Odeh in Gaza—the leader of the military wing of Hamas.”

Netanyahu did not specify the outcome of the attack or Odeh’s condition. According to him, Odeh allegedly participated in the October 7, 2023, attacks on Israel.

Since the ceasefire began, more than 600 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza.

On May 16, Israeli authorities confirmed the death of Izz al-Din al-Haddad, former leader of Hamas’s military wing. The Israeli authorities accused al-Haddad of murdering and abducting Israeli citizens.

Additionally, on that same day, an Israeli strike on a civil defense center in Haruf settlement in Nabatiyah district, southern Lebanon, killed six people, including three rescuers.
