Texas Border Agents Capture Six Chinese Nationals in Camouflage, Spark Security Concerns

State troopers and federal agents apprehended multiple groups of illegal immigrants in Maverick County this week, including six Chinese nationals dressed in camouflage clothing, raising fresh alarms over border security and potential national security threats.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety Lt. Chris Olivarez, K-9 Bona and her handler assisted Border Patrol agents on May 26 in locating seven migrants attempting to evade capture on a private ranch in Maverick County. Officials stated the initial group included individuals from Mexico, Guatemala, India, Ecuador, and Cuba—all referred to Border Patrol custody later that same day.

Later that night, Border Patrol agents seized another group of 12 illegal immigrants on a separate private ranch in the county. Among them were six Chinese nationals identified as Special Interest Aliens, all reportedly wearing camouflage attire.

Olivarez emphasized these operations highlight ongoing efforts to deter criminal activity along the southern border and the critical partnership between Texas DPS and federal partners under Operation Lone Star. “Border security is national security,” he stated. Officials clarified they did not accuse any individuals of espionage or ties to the Chinese military, though their classification as Special Interest Aliens and use of camouflage while evading authorities signaled potential national security implications.

“These are not typical border crossers,” Olivarez warned in a social media statement, noting such incidents continue to escalate along the southern border.
