Tulsi Gabbard has stepped down as Director of National Intelligence to support her husband, Abraham, who has been diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer.
Gabbard informed President Donald Trump of her decision during a meeting in the Oval Office on Friday. Her final working day is scheduled for June 30.
In a statement released today, she expressed gratitude to the president for his trust and the opportunity to lead the position over the past year and a half, noting that her husband’s recent diagnosis was the reason for her resignation.
