A painting by British street artist Banksy, titled “Girl With Balloon on Found Landscape,” sold at auction in New York for $18 million. The auction took place on May 20 with approximately 70 attendees.
The artwork, created in 2012, features a black-and-white scene with a bright red heart-shaped balloon that a young girl is reaching toward. It has become the third most expensive Banksy piece to date, following “The Girl with the Ball” and “GameChanger.”
In an additional development, a Banksy painting from his Vandalized Oils series was acquired in February 2025 at Sotheby’s in Saudi Arabia for $1.2 million. The work included the artist’s signature phrase “Available only for a limited period of time” on a landscape painting of Mount Rainier, highlighting the fragility of natural environments amid human-induced changes.
