Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico disclosed on May 22 that European politicians have been contacting him regarding discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin following criticism of his trips to Russia.
“I’m going to a meeting with the Russian president, everyone criticizes me, and then everyone calls me,” Fico stated during a press conference broadcast by Slovak TV channel TA3.
Fico added that some European officials have proposed meetings to clarify details of his contacts with Putin. He condemned the lack of dialogue and called such conduct hypocritical.
The Slovak leader arrived in Russia the day before May 9, when he placed wreaths at the Grave of the Unknown Soldier near Moscow’s Kremlin and engaged in talks with President Putin.
