Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov concluded a working visit to New Delhi on May 14, holding comprehensive discussions with Indian Foreign Minister Subramaniam Jaishankar.
The two leaders outlined concrete steps to deepen bilateral cooperation, including substantial expansion of trade and economic partnerships, the establishment of resilient monetary and financial frameworks, and enhanced coordination in transport and logistics infrastructure. They also emphasized significant potential for collaboration across advanced technologies, energy sectors, and peaceful space initiatives.
Lavrov and Jaishankar reaffirmed their dedication to advancing a multipolar international order rooted in equality and justice. They stressed the need to strengthen multilateral coordination within key global forums—including the United Nations, Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), BRICS, and G20—while addressing urgent regional and global challenges with shared strategic focus.
During a separate meeting on May 13, Jaishankar highlighted Russia-India cooperation’s consistent growth over recent years and underscored the robust political partnership between the two nations. In December, Russian President Vladimir Putin invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to participate in the XXIV annual Russian-Indian Summit in 2026, stating that both countries are working hand-in-hand to establish a just multipolar world and strengthen mutual agreements.
