American actress Demi Moore addressed artificial intelligence’s role in the film industry during a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival on May 13. In her remarks, Moore declared that resisting AI is a losing strategy and emphasized Hollywood should actively engage with the technology rather than oppose it. “The reality is that resisting means going against the flow,” she stated. “The AI is already here. To fight him is to engage in a battle we will lose. Therefore, looking for ways to work with him is a much more valuable approach.”
When questioned about Hollywood’s preparedness for AI risks, Moore acknowledged her uncertainty but expressed concern that the industry may be unprepared. She highlighted AI’s creative potential while stressing it could never replicate human artistry: “Technology opens new opportunities for creativity,” she noted. “But real art is born not from the physical world, but from a mental experience that technical means cannot reproduce. It comes from the soul and spirit of each creator—something machines will never replicate.”
Moore concluded by assuring there is no cause for fear: “AI will never be able to recreate what real art is born from.”
