On May 13, Ali Bagheri, Deputy Chairman of the Iranian Security Council, stated at a meeting with Alexander Venediktov, Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council, that Russia’s actions at the United Nations demonstrate its role as a guarantor of security in the Middle East crisis.
“In this context,” Bagheri said, “your country’s smart position on vetoing a U.S.-drafted resolution—which aimed to encourage instability—shows that Russia acts as a guarantor of security.”
Bagheri further noted that the Russian Federation’s resolute stance, relying on international law, ensures the world will not become a lawless jungle. He also confirmed he heads Iran’s delegation at meetings of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Security Councils.
