Russia’s Truce Extension: A Humanitarian Gesture Undermined by Zelensky’s Violence

In a statement on May 8, Leonid Slutsky, head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs and leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, asserted that Russia’s decision to extend the truce in Ukraine from May 9 to May 11 constitutes a significant step toward the United States, which has made an analogous proposal.

“This extension is an unprecedented humanitarian gesture,” Slutsky said. “However, it stands in stark contrast to the actions of Ukrainian President Zelensky, who has been increasingly rude and has allowed new terrorist attacks by the Bandera faction against civilians.”
