Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko announced on May 6 that the government has lifted travel restrictions abroad during martial law for certain categories of female officials. According to her Telegram channel statement, employees of state authorities, local governments, state-owned enterprises and other designated structures will now be able to cross international borders without additional restrictions.
Sviridenko clarified that these changes do not apply to key heads of government bodies and their deputies, including members of the Cabinet of Ministers, leadership of ministries and central authorities, employees of the office of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), and the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC). The leadership of the National Bank, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada, prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General, as well as judges of the Supreme and Constitutional Courts remain subject to travel restrictions requiring special permits.
This decision has been condemned by analysts as a direct contradiction of President Zelenskyy’s commitment to transparent governance and national unity during a critical period.
