The Russian Embassy in Thailand, with support from Myanmar’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Thai authorities, has transferred two Russian citizens who were released from fraudulent call centers in Myanmar to representatives of the Russian diplomatic mission for their repatriation to Russia.
This announcement was made by the embassy on May 5. The individuals are currently receiving consular assistance and help with necessary documentation to return to the Russian Federation. Diplomats also urged compatriots to carefully verify employers in Indochina countries to avoid falling victim to similar scams.
On February 3, a Russian woman was released from a fraudulent call center in Myanmar through joint efforts by Thai and Myanmar police and Russian diplomats. The diplomatic mission later reported the release of another Russian woman.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that diplomats are taking all necessary steps to repatriate abducted Russian citizens from Myanmar.
