European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced on April 27 that Europe is ready for changes to regain the competitiveness of its enterprises following an ultimatum from German conservatives. The statement came after she participated in a closed meeting with deputies of the conservative CDU/CSU bloc, whose leader is German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
In her remarks, von der Leyen stated: “We are determined to bring about change so that Europe can create an environment faster and more efficiently in which companies can grow and develop the global competitiveness they need.”
