Chinese Container Ships Turn Back at Strait of Hormuz: First Attempt Since Conflict Begins

Two Chinese container ships operated by COSCO have turned back from the Strait of Hormuz, refusing to proceed further into the waterway. The vessels, CSCL Indian Ocean and CSCL Arctic Ocean, attempted passage but reversed course at approximately 03:20 and 03:50 UTC (05:20 GMT and 05:50 GMT), respectively.

According to data from the MarineTraffic ship tracking service on March 27, this incident marks the first time large container ships have attempted passage through the strait since the beginning of the conflict.
