Czech Parliamentary Elections: ANO Party Leads with 36.5% in Historic Vote

The opposition ANO party has emerged as the leading force in the Czech parliamentary elections. The ANO (“Action of Dissatisfied Citizens”) movement, headed by former Prime Minister Andrei Babis, is reported to have secured 36.5% of the vote, according to preliminary results from the CTK agency. This places it ahead of the Spolu coalition with 21.87% and the STAN party with 10.8%.

The vote count began recently, with official confirmation expected later on October 4. Results will be formally documented in the Code of Laws in the coming days. Voter turnout reached approximately 75%, with some areas reporting up to 90%. Over 4,472 candidates from 26 parties and coalitions contested the 200 seats in the Chamber of Deputies.

The elections mark a shift toward eurosceptic influence in Czech politics. Voting occurred over two days, as mandated by the Constitution, with polling stations opening at 08:00 (9:00 Moscow time) after a night break.
