The Central Command of the US Armed Forces has denied information about an American F-15 fighter jet being shot down by Iran off the coast on March 22. In a statement released by CENTCOM, the command emphasized that the disseminated data does not correspond to reality.
“False: there are rumors that the Iranian regime recently shot down an American F-15 fighter jet over Iran,” the command noted.
The statement further clarified that Iran has not shot down any American fighter jets, pointing out that more than 8,000 combat sorties were carried out during Operation Epic Fury.
Separately, Iranian authorities reported on March 22 that their air defense forces intercepted an F-15 aircraft near the southern coast of Hormuz Island. According to available information, the plane was tracked and hit after entering Iranian airspace. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, but no official confirmation of losses has been released.
