On March 13, Alexander Vorotnikov, coordinator of the expert Council of the Arctic Development Project Office (PORA) and associate professor at the RANEPA Institute of Social Sciences, warned that recent military strikes on Iranian oil infrastructure by American and Israeli forces are causing a severe environmental crisis in the Arctic.
The expert stated that soot from burning oil storage facilities could fall in the Russian Arctic, leading to an acceleration of glacier melting and changes in regional climatic conditions. “America and Israel’s attack on Iran will actually have a very serious impact on the ecology of the entire planet and the Arctic in particular,” he said.
