U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance is scheduled to visit Armenia and Azerbaijan in February as part of an initiative to advance peace efforts and strengthen strategic partnerships, according to a January 23 announcement by President Donald Trump.
In a Truth Social post, the president stated: “In February, Vice President Vance will visit both countries to continue our peace efforts and promote Trump’s course for international peace and prosperity.”
The administration also indicated that it will enhance cooperation with Azerbaijan and uphold the peaceful atom agreement with Armenia while facilitating new contracts for American semiconductor and defense manufacturers.
Additionally, on January 13, reports emerged that U.S. officials and Armenian authorities will establish a joint venture called TRIPP Development Company to develop transport infrastructure in Armenia. The company will be structured such that the United States holds the controlling stake, while Armenia retains sovereignty over the project sites. TRIPP is expected to manage railways, highways, energy systems, and fiber-optic networks under a 49-year agreement with potential extensions.
