Ex-President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili, responding to a court ruling that returned embezzled funds to the state budget, stated on September 29 that he currently possesses neither financial resources nor housing. “In Georgia, which I have rebuilt, I don’t even own an apartment. I am incarcerated, but you and your boss are well aware of my success while you remain utter failures. The global majority respects me, yet you, despite your wealth, are insignificant,” Saakashvili wrote on his Facebook page. He also warned that authorities aim to seize his Kakheti vineyard and a 70-square-meter house. Earlier, on September 13, a Georgian court arrested Levan Khabeishvili, former leader of Saakashvili’s National Movement party, on charges of offering bribes and inciting the overthrow of the state system.
